Some further thoughts on blogging. I’m thinking of this blog as a sort of document-ary in that it should be truthful- cinema verite in words. In a literary sense, bloggers can be seen as e-memorists in that we are in fact writing our memoirs, dairies, or journals. They are also like ship logs or travelogues. I like to think of mine in that way at least. But I will strive to keep its theme literary rather than purely personal. Annie Dillard has written that memorists are writing creative non-fiction and I think that term is appropriate. It describes the arc of writing truthfully about real events but filtered through memory, editing, personal perspective, and the act of creation. So our truth is relative yet there is still an overriding Truth.

A couple of other things are on my mind this morning. It is my dog Audrey’s 15th birthday.

According to a chart I have, in human years, for her size, she is 76. She is the love of my life, and a beautiful prismatic array of light. Love’s reflection.

Strawberries. When I was rhapsodizing about June I forgot to mention them. We neglected our little patch when year after year the birds and chipmunks beat us out. I bought some from a neighbor yesterday, Annie and her 15 year old lab Tick. Delectable. The full Strawberry Moon is ahead.

Finally. I have given up on Cloud Atlas, the book. It is going back to the library with me today. I really loved the film and I wanted to love the book. The prose is masterful, eloquent, original… but the story line and characters so hard to follow!
